Crochet Rose Brooches

I love making these beautiful rose brooches.
Each embroidery thread from Anchor or DMC makes exactly one rose.
So it is so convenient to make in so many colors and I don't waste the yarn too.

About a week ago, a lady from Canada asked me if I can make 15 roses for the nurses who took care of her grandpa before he passed away.
It was such an honor and I made them in 15 different colors.
I really hope they'll like them.

Do you see those little leaves?
They were such a pain to make them. But I kept trying new patterns and I think I've found an easy way to make them.
I'll share with you when I have more time. (:

If you don't know how to crochet or just don't have time to make them, you can purchase those from my Etsy Shop for only $8 plus $2 postage.
Right now, I have 25% off coupon, so you can get it for $6 each! (:

I hope you had a great Christmas with your loved ones!
I'm excitedly looking forward to new year! (:

Gorgeous Crochet Edgings on Skirt

The best thing about having a big sister who can crochet is..well..I don't have to do it myself!
(And she does it way better and quicker anyway..)
My sister crocheted this beautiful edge for me on my oh-so-short skirt.

I absolutely love it! (:
I've been meaning to crochet the edges myself for awhile, cos I really love that skirt.
But I guess it must have "shrunk" over the years and it flew everywhere on windy day....the disaster...

She used crochet hook from Sharp Crochet Hook for the first row and did 5 rows of beautiful shells.
Now, my skirt hangs nicely and it doesn't fly in the wind anymore, which is always good, isn't it?
I like how the weight of the yarns weigh down the soft skirt nicely.

She's crocheting edging on another skirt now (lucky me! :D) and I'll share with you when it's all done ;)

Enjoy your weekends!

Ombre Earrings

Hey everyone!
I made these 2 pairs of briolette earrings. One in ombre blue and the other in ombre green.

The green one reminds me of beautiful autumn leaves.
I'll just post the product photos here, so you can see the colors better!
It was so hard to get the earrings in focus when I was taking them on me.

I really love the colors and I'm so happy I got my hands on those beautiful briolettes!
It'll still be autumn when I go back to Australia next month and this just reminds me of all the beautiful autumn colors that I'll get to see!

And here are the blue ones! Blue will always be my favorite thou - cos I'm biased like that! ;)
You can check out more photos on my Etsy Listings:

I just spent my morning making this beautiful rose bookmark for a customer from France.
I hope she likes it! (:

Have a greatt day! (:

New Items for Heart Stone Collection

Hey everyone!

I just added new designs to my Heart Stone Collection!
It is my favorite so far. I love how simple it is and it lets the beautiful heart stones shine.
I made a blue pair for myself.

And here are the rest of the colours currently available in my Etsy shop.

I have 2 more colours coming up, so stay tune! ;)
You can view the rest of my Heart Stone Collection HERE.

I hope everyone is doing well.

My finals starts this Friday and I have basically been preparing for it. I'm just glad most of my exams are open book, but I know I still can't get too complacent *sighs*
Last week, I spent 3 days working on 19 pages long lab report...and I fell sick after that...I really don't like that kind of pressure. I did make these earrings when I take a break from studies thou. So I guess I still had a bit of fun.
Mitch was a great help too, always keeping my company while I worked on it.

I am soo thrilled that my Facebook Page is close to having 300 likers! (:
But then, I realized only 10% of them see my posts (stupid function on Facebook...) unless I pay to promote my posts..
I'm not sure if it's worth it..what do you think?

It's Monday tomorrow, although it doesn't mean much to me since my classes are basically over.
I still hope you'll have a great start to your week!

Hugsx

Resin Roses

Hey everyone!

It's Friday tomorrow, so hang in there!
My Fridays are normally pretty lazy ones, but since I have 3 papers due next week, I guess I can't get a lazy one this time...

Anyway, I just want to share with you the resin rose bobby pins that I made.
I love resin embellishments..They're just beautiful....
I think they're moulded to perfection..
And I saw those lovely antique bronze bobby pins too and I really like the look of them together.

It was a really quick crafting, and I like it. It feels like a nice break from crocheting, since crocheting things normally take hours.

I bought myself a few resin roses in 3 colors - teal, red and cream white.

As usual...I'm sharing more photos than necessary..hehe
Enjoy! (:

Teal is my favorite!

And lastly...

So which one is your favorite?

Obsessed with Bows

Hey everyone!
More bows coming your way!

I made these tiny little bow hairpins awhile back.
I managed to make a few of them in pairs. Yellow is my favorite!

They're so fun to make and I made them in a few colors. Here is a close-up.

I haven't listed them on my Etsy shop, since taking photos of them take so long, not to mention the time taken to edit them..

In fact, I'm thinking of backing off from online selling for a bit.
And even being featured on the front page of Etsy won't stop me.
Yep, this crochet necklace of mine was featured on the front page 2 days ago!

And some kind seller from Etsy sent me this screenshot which I'm very grateful for since I slept through the front page feature...

It was exciting and everything since I got about 700 views during that 2-hour feature. But I still am not sure if I would be listing more items. May be I will, but very slowly, since they take up way too much time and I have more fun crocheting/making them...

I just had that inspiration because I just recently found out about local craft fairs such as MAAD and Public Garden. And when I head back to Australia in a month time, they have plenty of craft fairs too in Adelaide. So I'm just in the mood lately to just make plenty of pretty things and just wait for the next craft fair. What do you think about it?

I'll hopefully be back with more. (:
I have test on Thursday and a few projects due really sooooon, so don't be shocked if I disappear for like awhile. (:

Hugs.

Crochet Bows!

Hey everyone! (:
Just popping in to share crochet bow brooches that I made today.

They're so addictive! (:
The pattern is so easy too.

I started with 22 chains, and then half double crochet into 3rd chain from the hook.
And I just used half double crochet throughout and did total of 8 rows of half double crochet.
After that I weaved in ends and simply wrapped yarns in the centre and you just made a bow!

More photos here!
I know the photos aren't perfect, cos I took it with my phone at night under my room's lights *gasps*
I hope you don't mind it so much.

There you go! (:
I know it's a longgg weekends in most countries, so I hope you will have a good one!
I probably will spend mine working on school project (not fun..), crocheting and reading with M.

Oh yes, I started using INSTAGRAM and if you're on it too, you can follow me @khinsboutique.
I think it is rather fun, but I really don't want to get addicted to it...Mitch wouldn't stop teasing me for using Instagram and I'm glad he's over it, at least for now :P

That's all from me for tonight. I think I'm gonna go curl up with Mistborn - a really great book that I'm currently reading.

Good night.

Tiny Crochet Rose Brooches

Hey there! (:
How was your weekends?
I can't believe tomorrow gonna be Monday and I've got classes from 10 till 6....yikes!

But, I'm so glad I did some crocheting over the weekends and yes, I think I did do quite a lot of studying for my uni. I mean, I didn't stay up till 3 am studying like most do, but I don't want to spend my days like that. But I'm still pretty proud with what I've done so far.

Anyway, I don't think you want to hear me talk about boring things like school *winks*, so here is the fun part! :D

Crocheted Roses!

I love the colors! (: I used embroidery threads for all of them. The threads are made of mercerized cotton, which make them a little bit shiny, like silk.

I told you they are tiny! (: Well, the roses are about 3.5 cm in diameter and I think it is a perfect size to wear it on blouses.

I used 0.95 mm crochet hook to make them. If you don't know how tiny the hook is, here is the pic for you.

The tip is pretty small, and of course, sharp, but it makes pretty roses, so I put up with it. :D
I enjoy making the roses a lot! But making the tiny leaves and sewing on the brooch pins on the back is, well...not so fun..

For the leaves, they are 1.5 to 2 cm in length and I have to weave in 2 loose ends. And weaving in ends is really painstaking, especially for small crochet things..If you have little threads coming out, it looks so untidy and you have to hide them neatly.

And sewing the brooch pin on the back means poking a small needle through pretty tightly crocheted roses. So, the needle won't go through easily and then, well..I've broken a few needles already..hehehe..In fact, I've gone through half a pack of 16 needles. But I might have lost some along the way, so you really should be looking where you sit if you were ever in my room..

It was still tons of fun making them thou! And I know it's worth it after seeing them all come together on my brooch pin cards..

Ta Daaa~!

Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you'll have a great Monday (if there is such thing...)

Till next time! (:

Earrings Cards DIY

Last night, I was up until about 2 am, busy printing my earring cards.
I designed them, with the help of Mitch and suggestions from my friends. Thanks so much for all the help, guys. (:
It was so much fun designing them. I had about 10 different floral cards but this one gotta be my favourite!

I especially love the font that I used, Scriptina. The most gruesome part of designing was picking out one perfect front from so many beautiful ones. I'm so glad I've made up my mind about it and done deciding on the design.

Since I'm on the subject of packaging, I thought I'd share with you the packaging that I did for my previous orders on my Etsy Shop.

I made those little bags out of tracing papers. I love how they are partly transparent (duh...) and they don't get crumpled easily.

So, how do you package your items?
Do you source them from others or do you design and make them all yourself?
You can leave your links to your packaging blog posts in the comment section cos I'd love to check them out. (:
Have a great weekends!

Beautiful Stones and Swarovski Earrings

G'day to all of Khin's fans, Mitch here!

In case you don't know me, I'm Khin's fiancé (the one on the left in Khin's about page). I read this blog along with all of you, and love seeing all the wonderful crochet and jewelleries Khin makes. Today I'm updating for her as a surprise, and showing you all the wonderful photos and new items she has made.

Aren't they so nicely made? The mixed stone/crystal ones are my favourites, along with the blue Swarovski crystal one (sadly it doesn't match up well with the blue stone to make a mixed one). Khin's selling all of these at her Etsy shop except the orange ones which I'm sure will be there soon. Which is your favourite?

Thanks for reading this update, and a bigger thanks to everyone that keeps reading my brilliant fiancée's blog!

Featured Shop: Rooted in Succulents

Hey everyone! (:
I just want to share this beautiful shop, Rooted in Succulents by Jessica.
I love succulents; they are just beautiful and so unique.
(But to be honest, I never knew those little plants are called succulents until, well, this morning.)
Jessica took a step further and make those adorable plants into eye-catching art pieces.

Wouldn't you just love to have it as a centrepiece for, say, your rustic wedding reception? How cool is that?!
And something even cooler than that...

It is such a beauty...
You could check out more of her beautiful creations, including wreathes, table top trees and other beautiful centrepieces in her Etsy shop and don't forget to say hello to her on Facebook page too.

Anyway, back to talking about the love for succulents..
I was just checking out some unique wedding bouquets (with me being engaged and all, just make me think of the big day more) and succulent bouquets always catch my attention.
They're untraditional and I like it that way. A little bit of uniqueness wouldn't hurt, would it?

Isn't it just beautiful?! And I bet they will last longer than those floral bouquets too.
So...the big question is..
Would you have succulent bouquet as your wedding bouquet?

A Bowl of Sunshine

Hello everyone! (:
I was on the way back from class last Friday and, I went to my local craft supply store to get some beautiful new things. I have a long week break from school, so I thought I could make some new things for my Etsy shop.

I saw these colorful heart rocks and I just have to get some!
They are all such brilliant colors.
I wire-wrapped them using 26 gauge sterling silver wires and turn them into earrings.
There are a few more other colors, so I might be able to make a set of rainbow colors.

I hope you like it.
You can get them for $12 + postage on my Etsy Shop.
And you can use coupon code KHINSBLOG10 to get 10% off on your order at the checkout too! (:

I hope you're having a great weekends! (:
Till next time.

Photoshop Actions!

I did a photo shoot with lovely Victoria from Yim Photography for my 20th birthday.
That is like over a year ago.

When I got engaged last year, I was looking for photographers to do our engagement photos in Australia and some of the photographers say they will not edit the photos for us.
So I panicked.

I messaged Victoria and asked her a few suggestions on editing photos and she introduced me to a whole new world of photo editing - using Photoshop Actions! Isn't she the nicest?

She gave me this link to Free Photoshop Actions by Pioneer Woman Photograph.
I was playing around with it and I just have to share with you the results.
They're so awesome and there are, of course, better actions that you can purchase.

Today, I used the Fresh and Colorful Action by Pioneer Woman Photograph.
It is my favorite action in that package.
Here you go.

Go check out how to use them and I hope you have fun editing! (:
