Doily a Day # 3

What was I thinking when I called this project "Doily a Day"?
Seriously! I can't possibly make one doily everyday, but hey, I guess I can come somewhat close to it...
The title kind of motivates me to think about crocheting/looking for doily patterns everyday anyway, which is pretty good.

Anyway, here is my #3 doily. (:
It has to be my favourite so far! Took me 2 days just to finish it. And one whole day to look for pattern that satisfies me.
I mainly browsed through Pinterest (totally addicted to it!) and pinned some on this board of mine, Crochet Doily Pattern.
Why I love it: This is probably my first doily that actually comes close to those vintage doilies. I mainly don't have patient for those big delicate doily (yet), but this one was perfect size for me! (:
I had a bit of trouble navigating British crochet terms, but it was all worth it! (:

Just sidetracking here a little bit; guess what I've got in my mail today?!
Pretty, colourful briolettes! I can't wait to make some lovely jewellery with them.
Oh the possibilities....
That's all from me for today. Till next time ~ (:

Doily a Day # 2

Hello there! (:
I had a great start to my week. Especially cos I received this sweet letter from my fiancé today.
I love snail mails! (Thanks, Mitch)
I hope you're having a good day too. (:

Anyway...here are more photos of the doily.

Why I love it: I love that beautiful flower in the centre and love how I could just not do the rest of the rounds and use it as an appliqué on handmade cards, etc. The chart pattern is great too (It's hand-drawn, can you believe it?!).

If you're new to my Doily a Day Project, you can catch up HERE

I hope the photos are alright. I had to take them at night since I had school till pretty late.
Hate taking photos at night! Such a pain...

I think it would probably need blocking or starching if I want to use it as a coaster, but I probably gonna hoard it along with my other doilies for now. So, this is good enough. (:
Hope you like it!

See ya tomorrow. (:

Doily a Day # 1

Hello! (:
This is my first day of "Doily a Day" series.
What I'm gonna do is, I'm going to make one doily everyday and share it with you here.
I'm making them all in white, just so I can join them into something bigger. Not really sure what yet.
I think it is more fun not to have an end product in mind and just have fun making pretty doilies.

Here is today's one.

And the pattern is from Toma Creations. You can find the written pattern here.

I did change the last round thou. Instead of doing slip stitch for the last round, I did single crochet, 2 chains, single crochet in the next stitch and repeated around it.

Hope you like it. (: See you tomorrow.

Sparkle

Hello there! (:
I've been busy since my uni has restarted and at the same time, I'm revamping my Etsy Shop.
If you have time, can you go check it out and well, critique it in the comment section. (:
You can be bloody honest - I'd appreciate that. (:

Anyway, here are some of my latest works.
They don't have anything crochet on them. But, I love the charms and sparkly Swarovski crystals.

I'll see you next time! (:

New Year Means...

..new calendar, planner and diary, of course!
When the year is ending, I get excited because I can finally get my hands on pretty diaries, calendars, etc.

I haven't gotten myself a new planner, since I don't need one till my uni restarts.
I personally prefer buying a planner than printing one, since well, it's a hell lot of pages!
If you're looking for some unique 2013 planner, Etsy has a feature on it HERE.

But I do love printing calendars and there are so many pretty ones (and FREE!) out there.
I did some hunting around and here are my favorite ones.

(I love the simplicity of it.)

(I don't normally like Paris-themed, because I think they're overrated...don't hate me for it! But I just love this calendar. It's so tasteful.)

(You have to check this one out if you are from United States. I would have printed this out in a heart beat if I stayed in US, since it is sooo ADORABLE! But its monthly themes follow the US holidays, so yep, bummer for me.)

Well, I hope this inspires you to print your own calendars instead of buying them from stores.
I think it's more fun that way! (:

Flower, Doily and Laces

Hey everyone! How's it going?
I hope you're having a great start to your new year.
I've got these beautiful flowers from Mitch on new year day and they're still pretty fresh.
Aren't they just so lovely?
I must confess I do loveee taking photos, and that's why my posts have way too many photos than necessary. Hope you don't mind.

I just sort of finished my first project of 2013. At least the crochet part of it.
It is a pencil case/make-up pouch. When finished, it'll measure 21cm x 10cm.
The pouch base is just simple single crochet. Took me a decent while to finish it since the yarn was pretty small and I used 3mm hook.
As you can probably tell, I haven't sewed the sides together or weave in the yarn ends.
That's because I'll be lining it and sewing a zipper. I haven't got the zipper or matching lining and probably awhile till I go shopping for them. Oh well, it can wait. :D
I used the doily from my red clutch bag. I skipped the last round thou.
I just adore that doily pattern!
Close-up on the edgings.
I'll share with you the final outcome after I finish the fabric lining and final work.

Anyway, yesterday, I went to watch The Hobbit with Mitch and his friend.
And well, during one scene at Bilbo's house, he said, "No, that's not a dishcloth! It's a doily. Yes yes, it's crocheted.'' It cracked me up! You have to see it for yourself.

That's all for now. Till next time. Happy crocheting! (:

Hearts Hearts Hearts

Hey everyone!
Happy new year! (:
I've got baby yarns from some nice lady awhile back in pink and white.
So I thought I'll use them to make some whimsy hearts.
It is really quick to crochet, so I made 5 of them.
I thought of turning it into a heart garland, but haven't really made up my mind on it.

I found some cushion stuffing at Mitch's house, so I made a cute heart cushion using it.
I used the same heart pattern, of course. I just simply sewn the edges of 2 pink hearts together, added some stuffing and lastly crocheted the lace edgings in white.
Isn't it sooo cute?
I hope you like it.
